As Nigeria accelerates its industrialization drive, new industrial parks are being developed across the country to host manufacturing facilities, logistics centers, and SMEs. Reliable medium-voltage (MV) power distribution is critical to ensure continuous operations. Uni Cable supplied 11kV/33kV XLPE-insulated power cables and matching cable terminations for the electrification of a large industrial park in Lagos State.

The industrial park required reliable and safe distribution from the local 132/33kV substation to various facilities. Uni Cable provided:
Primary 33kV feeders using 400 mm² copper XLPE cables.
Secondary 11kV distribution loops using 150–240 mm² aluminum XLPE cables.
Indoor terminations for switchgear panels.
Outdoor terminations for transformer bushings and cable poles.
This hybrid solution ensured efficient load distribution while reducing technical losses and providing long-term reliability under Nigeria’s hot and humid climate.
Before export, all cables and terminations underwent:
Routine Tests (IEC 60502-2): conductor resistance, partial discharge (<5 pC), AC withstand voltage, sheath integrity.
Type Tests: heating cycle test, impulse withstand voltage, short-circuit performance.
Accessories Tests: dielectric withstand, salt-fog test, thermal aging.
Cables were certified by SON (Standards Organization of Nigeria) in addition to IEC compliance.
Cables: Shipped in wooden drums, 500 m lengths, moisture-protected with steel reinforcement for sea transport.
Terminations: Exported in kits, with all components individually packed for site installation.
Delivery Mode: Split into three batches to align with construction milestones (substation, distribution, and plant connection phases).
Integrated Package: Providing both MV cables and accessories from one source simplified procurement and ensured technical compatibility.
Tropicalized Design: Outdoor terminations supplied with extended creepage distance and UV resistance to suit Nigeria’s climate.
After-Sales Support: On-site training for local contractors on cable jointing and termination installation.
